Monopoly

It’s many years since I played the board game which has inspired this entry. I guess I used to play it relatively frequently, since I remember quite a few of the details, but the one in which I’m most interested is the ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card. Here’s one:

Now, I’m going to make a huge leap here, and suggest that out here in Taiwan, the card is real. It exists. It works. It just has another name.

Face.

Stick with me for a moment. It’s bloody genius. You see, the big no-no here is losing face. One does not want to lose face, nor be the one to cause someone else to lose face. Nothing could be worse.

That’s it.

Thus, you can get away with just about anything because nobody will say or do anything. Like I said, it’s bloody genius.
