Is it just me, or does this make you wonder? You know, wonder about what on earth were they thinking? I suppose it would help if I showed you this:

Yes, they painted the words on the road, but they painted them about ten inches (25cm) too far to the right, so they scrubbed them out and moved them.
Now, this might seem fair enough if you were looking at a road somewhere where they are sticklers for detail and for following the rules and keeping to the correct lanes and not driving down the wrong side of the road and not ignoring red lights and not waiting for pedestrians to cross when they have right of way and not completely ignoring virtually every rule of the road. You may be surprised to learn that this road is in Taiwan, just along from where I live. To suggest that the moving of a road marking ten inches to the left would make the slightest difference to anyone using that stretch of road would be, at best, fanciful.
What is the point?
That money could have been spend on educating children, or drivers, or old people, or anyone who sets foot outside of their home and ventures onto the highways and byways of this amazing island.
The people of Taiwan are, almost invariably, incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially to an immigrant like me. Put them on the road, however, and I make no apology for writing this, they are collectively the most stupid, impatient, ignorant and idiotic group you could ever have the misfortune to meet. I am trying to get things moving towards proper training, education and restructuring, but I fear I am wasting my time.
Hang on, though. The police have come up with this.

Because, clearly, that’s going to make all the difference.
Cardboard cut-out road policing. Yeah, that’ll learn ’em.
FFS.
